What is the content of the course of studies?
Students of the Master’s programme in Hospital Management acquire comprehensive competences for work in the main fields of management in health care institutions. These include, in particular, the management of hospitals, medical care centres or rehabilitation facilities as well as advisory activities for consultants in the health sector, pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies and health and social authorities.
The concept of the Master’s degree programme in Hospital Management takes into account current scientific findings as well as professional practice and leads to specialised professional and scientific competence in action. The qualification objectives therefore include specialist and interdisciplinary aspects in the areas of scientific aptitude, knowledge of economic and business know-how with the specialised and interdisciplinary knowledge of the healthcare industry and basic medical subject content.
The study programme aims at an interdisciplinary approach to health care. Therefore, in addition to economic modules, legal, ethical and social science modules are also offered in this application-oriented degree programme. The students can derive and classify the goals and instruments of management from the tasks of the companies. They understand management problems of health care institutions as tasks that can be shaped and can classify, analyse and evaluate the financial and regulatory framework conditions of management in the context of the market situation – especially of hospitals.

What are the entry requirements?
- Bachelor’s degree in the field of health, therapy, nursing sciences or nursing pedagogy.
- Entitlement to study in Master’s degree programmes in accordance with § 39 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG)
- Curriculum vitae in tabular form and two recent passport photos (name on reverse),
- Copy of identity card (front and back), for foreign students identity card,
- If applicable, proof of previous employment,
- Proof of first degree, course book or degree certificate, if the applicant has already studied at other universities.
- The degree programmes at MSH are NC-free: talent, motivation and discipline count more than the grade point average on the report card. Punctuality, good performance and commitment during your studies are of great importance.
- Interest in health structures, the German health system, health policy, interest in medicine and management, especially hospital management. Good communication skills.
