Generally, a training salary is paid that increases with the years of training. At the beginning, the training salary is around 1,030 euros.
What are my activities in this job?
Chemical laboratory assistants test organic and inorganic substances or products and investigate chemical processes. They also produce mixtures of substances and develop or optimise the synthesis process of preparations. When analysing substances, they use various chemical and physical methods. Immunological, diagnostic or biotechnical examinations are also part of their tasks. They carry out the measurements largely independently. They record experimental procedures and evaluate them on the computer.
Chemical laboratory assistants work in a team-oriented manner in close cooperation with natural scientists and engineers.
Chemical laboratory assistants carry out analyses and quality controls, syntheses and metrological tasks independently, planning the work processes occurring in laboratories, recording the work and evaluating the work results. In their work, they must take a high degree of responsibility and in particular observe the rules and regulations on occupational safety, health protection, environmental protection and quality assurance. In the last third of the training, team and project work in different areas is possible. This depends on the company’s focus and the special knowledge and skills acquired up to that point.
Where can I work?
Chemical laboratory assistants work primarily in research, development and production laboratories in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, the paint and coatings industry, the food and cosmetics industries. They are also employed in scientific and medical institutes of universities. In addition, they may work in commercial laboratories or at environmental agencies, among others.
What requirements must I meet?
- General higher education entrance qualification, advanced technical college certificate or
