What is the content of the course of studies?
We will train you how to improve your client-focussed, professional and interdisciplinary care or treatment of patients and/or support for expectant and young families. For that, you acquire skills in the fields of science and research, management and communication and counselling to help shape healthcare. As part of this course of studies, you will acquire the skills and abilities to understand the results of studies and research and to be able to carry out scientific work. You will acquire knowledge that will enable you to better manage your everyday work, improve your communication skills in all relevant areas and cooperate on an interdisciplinary level. Furthermore, you will gain an insight into healthcare structure in order to be able improve work processes with this newly gained knowledge, to develop an understanding of social and institutional conditions and thus open up new career opportunities for yourself.
Where can I find employment later on?
Nursing care facilities. Outpatient, partial inpatient and inpatient facilities are meant here as well as care for specific target groups such as people with acute and chronic illnesses and the terminally ill. The study programme also trains students, however, for scientific roles in other social and healthcare institutions such as local authorities, communities, health and nursing care insurance companies. Moreover, graduates can also find work in associations, parties and areas of policy advice.
In what fields/subject areas can I work?
The professional topics include, among other things, nursing-related organisational and management responsibilities at senior and middle management level, case management, discharge management, transfer of care, patient training, care consulting, care assessments, specialist and management tasks in the area of care-related quality management, working with scientific departments and bodies of experts as well as organisational and planning/conceptual tasks within healthcare facilities.
What are the entry requirements?
- General higher education entrance qualification (Hochschulreife), advanced technical college certificate (Fachhochschulreife), completed professional training as: Nurse, paediatric nurse, geriatric nurse, midwife or obstetric nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist.
