What is the content of the course of studies?
Current developments in the health sector call for an increasing academisation of health professions such as nursing and therapy professions or midwifery. In medical training, innovative high didactic concepts are gaining in importance. Keywords in this context are Best Evidence Medical Education (BEME) or Best Evidence Health Professionals Education (BEHPE).
The Master’s programme is aimed at graduates of human medicine and dentistry, therapy and nursing sciences, medical education, medical management, public health / health sciences and other health-related degree programmes. It therefore addresses the entire spectrum of medicine and health professionals. The MSH focuses on an interdisciplinary and sector-integrating university concept and thus follows the recommendations of the German Science Council, among others, for inter-professional cooperation to improve the quality of health care.
The part-time model gives students in the family phase the opportunity to gain further academic qualifications alongside work and family. The courses take place on four block weekends per semester.
The Master’s programme was designed taking into account international standards of the World Federation for Medical Education (WMF) at the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) level. The common thread of the curriculum is the CanMeds framework concept based on the National Competence-based Learning Objectives Catalogue for Medicine (NKLM). In particular, the roles of the scholar, the communicator and the collaborator are addressed throughout and reflected on during the course.
The goals of the Master’s programme in Medical and Health Education are to enable students to teach independently, based on research and evidence, as well as to work practically on a scientific basis in all dimensions of higher education teaching and educational management in the tertiary education sector.
